Vallunaraju is one of the mountains in the Highest Tropical Mountain Range on earth – Cordillera Blanca that can be climbed from Huaraz in just two days.

Suitable for novice as well as experienced climbers wanting to climb higher or technical peaks in the Cordillera Blanca. The route from Base Camp/Hut to the glacier is on a steep dirt and rocky trail and it is necessary to carry your own personal gear. From where the glacier starts to the top is a sustained uphill climb plus the altitude makes it a demanding summit day.

If you are strong, fit and well acclimatized to the altitude and able to carry a backpack with your personal and climbing gear on steep terrain over rocky and uneven ground then this is the climbing experience that you have been looking for.

CLIMBING ITINERARY

Lets Go! Vamos!

Drive two hours from Huaraz to Llaca Valley and Mountain Hut at 4350m. We spend the afternoon exploring the beautiful Llaca lake.Day 2: Summit Attempt and Return to Huaraz

Summit Day. We leave very early (1am). We start with a steep climb for about 2 hours and then the way gets easier and traverses gradually along to the moraine rock wall before reaching the glacier. Then we have steady and not steep ice/snow slopes towards the summit 5686m. The last 100m to the summit is steep and feels exposed to some people but no worries as the guide will help with this section if you are unsure. All the way during the climb we can see across to Huascaran, the highest tropical mountain in the world and the Huaylas Valley. We then return following the same trail descending steeply to the hut where we have lunch before returning back to Huaraz. Around 11 hours to climb and return to Llaca Valley/hut and then 2 hours drive
