HIKING ITINERARY

Lets Go! Vamos!

Our Laguna Ahuac Lake Hike is a great hiking option for a trekking or climbing preparation and known to very few hikers. We start our walking adventure with a short journey to Wilcahuain village, we drive through some Andean villages having the opportunity to see local shepherds and farmers working on the fields using traditional methods. From Wilcahuain we begin the hike on a well formed trail, we walk steadily upwards through farmland with views of the surrounding mountains and across to Cordillera Negra Mountain Range.

We often come across villagers or sheperds a long the way, they graze their cows and sheep on the hills and are friendly people. The path gets steeper as we approach the highland grass which covers the hillsides, the last part we walk on a rocky trail which leads us to the hidden laguna Ahuac lake located at 4600m at the base of Vallunaraju mountain. From here we have close views of Vallunaraju. 6 hours return hike
