Nevado Chopicalqui 6354m Mountain Climbing

Route: SW Ridge
Season: Mid June – August
Day 1: Drive to La curva de Chopicallqui and walk up to the base camp 4250. 3 hours drive and 30 minutes walk.
Day 2: Ascend to the Moraine Camp 4850m. 4 hours walk.
Day 3: Climb up to the high camp 5300m. 3 hours climb
Day 4: Summit attempt and back to moraine camp. 12 hours climb for the day.
Day 5: Walk out to the road and return to Huaraz.
Technical Difficulty & Fitness
2. Short, steep sections of snow or ice up to about 60°. Previous snow and ice climbing experience is essential.
B. High level of fitness coupled with physical toughness and the ability to carry a heavy backpack.
Health and Fitness
To get the most out of your climbing experience with us, you will need to be fit, healthy and well acclimatized to the altitude. You do not need to be an athlete, but a good level of overall fitness is important. As an indication, you should be able to walk for up to 5 hours with a heavy backpack.
